There are lots of ways you can help our planet and all of the incredible animals who live here

VOLUNTEER

Volunteering is a great way to get involved and help protect. It allows you to spend some time with these incredible animals and learn more about how important conservation work is and how much it is helping animals to stay protected. There are a lot of organisations that allow you to go and volunteer with them and although some of them can be quite expensive, there are also a lot of local organisations and some that will allow you to volunteer for free.

If you don't want to stand on the side and watch your favourite animals become extinct in the near future, take action and become a wildlife conservation volunteer.

Reduce your impact

There are lots of ways that you can help the planet in your every day life by reducing your carbon footprint. This includes changing your diet, driving less and using more eco friendly transport solutions, using less electricity in your home and being conscious of your purchasing habits

1) Changing your diet:

Try eating less meat and dairy or cutting it out all together. Buy locally sustainably sourced products when available and try to buy products with less plastic packaging. Try and have a large variety of different foods to help  nutrients in the soil to recover.

2) Travelling responsibly:

Only travel when necessary, if you can walk or cycle, then do so. Its not only great for your own health it reduces the carbon emissions that you are producing. If you need to travel for work try a car share programme or use public transport. If you do need to use your car, drive responsibly. Remove excess weight and always have the right tyre pressure in your car. Small steps made by everyone can make a huge difference.

3) Home Energy:

There are several steps you can take in your own home to reduce your carbon footprint. Start by checking that your energy provider are providing renewable energy, and look at finding the most sustainable energy company to switch to. Use energy efficient bulbs throughout your home and turn off electric appliances that you are not using. Even leaving appliances on standby they are still using energy. Embrace the modern technology and monitor your usage through an app to create a more environmentally way of living.

4) Purchasing Habits:

Buying new things is nice but there are a lot of resources put into producing new stuff. By buying one well made item of expensive clothing rather than replacing it with lots of cheaper alternatives will stop the waste of resources manufacturing. You could also try buying second hand clothing, furniture or even technology. Take care of your items, its better for our planet to buy quality over quantity, the more stuff you have the more you will end up throwing away.

RECYCLE

Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on our natural environment.  Recycling paper and wood saves our trees and forest which means that the animals natural habitat can be preserved. Recycling plastics means there will be less new plastics produced and less plastics in our oceans which in the long term will save our ocean animals.

Recycling reduces the need to grow, harvest or extract new materials from the natural earth. This intern reduces the harmful disruption and damage being done to the natural world. Fewer forests will be cut down, rivers will be diverted, less animals will be killed and there will be less pollution in the seas, the soil and our air. It also reduces carbon dioxides and other greenhouse gasses because recycling means you need to use less energy.

RECYCLE and be a ZERO waste HERO

fundraise

There are lots of opportunities where you can fundraise for your favourite charity. This is a great way to use your skills or learn new skills to help the animals who live alongside us on this earth. The great thing about fundraising is that you can do anything that you want and it gives you a great opportunity to share your passion with others and get them involved. They will find out about what you are doing and you can share your message with other people. You can run a marathon, climb a mountain, cycle around Europe, do a skydive, bake some cakes or create your own fun way to raise some money that will go on to help conservations to protect these animals so that they can live on for a long time after us and our children can see these animals with their own eyes.

DOnate

Most animal conservation centres are zero profit organisations so they rely heavily on donations, fundraising and volunteer work to help them to continue their vital work that helps to protect endangered animals across the world. Kind donations from people like you really help these organisations, the smallest donations can help these organisations.

Just £20 can pay for conservations to place an anti-poaching patrol in Nepal for a day saving tigers and rhinos from poachers.

£100 could pay for a handheld GPS device that can accurately map endangered marine turtle nests.

£100 could pay to train 100 farmers on effective ways to deter elephants from crop raiding resulting in fewer conflicts with elephants.

£500 could help pay and plant 50 tree seedlings to help restore heavily logged or fire-impacted forests. and restore animals natural habitat

£1000 could go towards helping a conservation to organise and run a workshop to train communities how to prevent conflict between people and elephants and provide them with support on how to deal with situations sustainably.

eat sustainable

Your diet is a big part in your carbon footprint with large proportions of greenhouse gasses coming from food production. Meat and dairy are associated with much higher carbon emissions than plant-based food which is why so many people are changing to a vegan diet. There has been a huge change over the last few years making becoming vegan much easier in the 21st century with lots of restaurants and new food products being introduced especially for vegans and vegetarians. This is making it easier than ever before to start cutting meat out of your life. If you don't think that you can fully cut out meat, than you could still try and eat less of it and swap out a few meals each week to a vegetarian option instead.

Be careful what you are buying, try your best to only buy what you need. One third of all food produced is wasted. Every year wasted food in the UK represents 14 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. In total, these greenhouse gas emissions are the same as those created by 7 million cars each year. Make shopping lists and stick to them to avoid unnecessary waste.

learn & educate

It is a good idea to learn as much as possible about your favourite animals, this will allow you to share information with others and help to educate. By watching television shows or reading books you can find out more about all animals. You will get the opportunity to see the animals in their natural habitat, see how they live, communicate and spend their days.

You can also use social media to follow people who believe in the same values as us and are working towards protecting the natural world. You can also use social media to spread your own views and thoughts on what is going on in the world and help your friends to understand why you care.

Another way to keep up to date with everything that conservations are doing to protect animals is by joining the charities mailing lists or becoming a member to keep involved and updated on all the news and updates.

Use your voice

Even though most people on earth love animals, it is because of human impact that so many animals are facing the threat of extinction today. People want to change their habit and make a better world but they do not always know how to do this. The best way to get everyone to understand and change is to spread the word. You can inspire people to create a better world by using your social media platforms, through fundraising or even your family and friends simply by just explaining the situation we are in. By telling them the simple changes they could make in their lives to reducing their carbon footprints. To try and make them see the impact that they are having on earth. If everyone wanted a better world not only for animals but for humans we could change the certain future of extinction and together as a species we can save other species.

join a movement

Since we were told by scientists that there was 12 years left before it was too late to change  Extinction Rebellion formed to try and force the government into telling the truth about our uncertain futures if we continue down this path. They are formed of likeminded people like us who believe that the world is worth saving and we should be doing everything in our power to be saving it. Climate change is a very real threat to our world and by joining a movement like the Extinction Rebellion we could see some changes in the near future.

shop for your world

Buying good quality products that are environmentally friendly are good ways of reducing your carbon footprint and helping towards protecting our earth. If you shop with us we will also donate 20% of any purchase to a charity of your choice which means buying from our store allows you a nice way to donate whilst getting something in return to show your support for protecting animals from extinction. We are not the only company who feel this way and there are other companies who are also trying to use products as a way to raise awareness and send a helping hand to animal conservationists.

Under the skin are also a sustainable company who sell screen prints for endangered animals donating a percentage of profits to animal conservations.

The company 4ocean are using their clean ups of our oceans to create recycled bracelets that go towards protecting our oceans from pollution.

There are lots of other companies who are taking big steps to help reduce their impact on the earth with surf companies like Roxy using recycle plastics to make clothing and many companies cutting out all plastics from their shopping. Look at a companies values before you buy with them and make sure they are doing their bit to help the planet. The more eco friendly businesses that are around us create a better future for everyone.
